Abstract: | Capitalism has entered the age of obsolescence. The new technological revolution saves both labor and capital and thus delegitimizes the domination of capital over labor. The U.S. leader of the new imperialist system does not provide capital to its peripheries, but absorbs the surplus generated in the whole world in order to maintain its wasteful consumption. The devastating dimension of accumulation is thus reinforced, as the case of eventual further expansion of agricultural capitalism illustrates. The power system responds to these features of senility by resorting to more violence (the "American wars") and giving up the universal values of its origins, thus leading to a crisis of democratic legitimacy. |
